De drie groepen betrokken met het plannen
en uitvoeren van de Henry Hudson 400 platbodem evenement die ons
interesseren zijn de volgende:

The three groups that
we are concerned with are those that are involved in the planning and execution of the Henry Hudson 400
"platbodem" event. These are the following:

Henry Hudson 400 Stichting:
Is opgezet, bestuurd en word geadviseerd
by an firmament van sterren in het zakenleven, bankiers, politcos,
artisten heeft het alle talent om met een
brede kwast alles te verven.
Apart van
SPTS
en HH400 Vrienden
(zie hieronder) schijnen er geen andere organisaties betrokken te zijn
met het platbodem evenement. Andere evenementen hebben sponsors. De Nederlandse Consulaat
in New York helpt met
logistiek.
Maar of er genoeg
hulpbronnen zijn om in detail te plannen en uitvoeren
is nog niet duidelijk. Zeer zeker, fondsenwerving voor de transporatatie
van platbodems heeft gefaald.

Henry Hudson 400 Foundation:
It is founded, managed
and advised by a virtual galaxy of talent in business, banking,
politics and the arts. They can paint on a broad canvass that weaves together the many strands
of the festivities. While it has subcontracted many of its
activities it still carries the overall responsibility.
Apart
from SPTS
and HH400 Friends
(see below) there does not appear to be any other substantial group
involved in supporting the "platbodem" event. Other events
have sponsors. The Netherlands'
Consulate in NY is assisting with logistics.
Whether,
the resources are available to plan and execute in sufficient detail is another question.
Certainly, it has been spectacularly unsuccessful in raising funds
for the transport of the "platbodems".

Stichting ter Promotie van het
Traditionele Schip (SPTS):
SPTS heeft op zich genomen
om het transport en varende
gedeelte in New York te organiseren van
het platbodem evenement te organiseren.
Deze Stichting wordt door echte ervaren
schippers geleid, maken direct contact met de mogenlijke deelnemers en
doe dat allemaal "pro bono" - zonder betaling!
Alhoewel ze alle ervaring
hebben in Nederland en sommige andere Europese landen, dachten wij dat
ze misschien wel advies zouden apprecieren over hoe dat op de grote
oppervlaktes, inclusief New York Harbor en de Hudson rivier, zou gaan.
Dat aanbod is niet aangenomen.

Foundation for the Promotion of Traditional Ships (SPTS):
SPTS has assumed the
responsibility for arranging the
transportation and the float plan
for the boats in New York. This foundation is managed by experienced
skippers, makes direct contact with potential participants en does it
all "pro-bono" and as a volunteer organization does not
receiving monetary compensation for their labor.
Although they have experience in the
Netherlands and in some other European countries, we assumed that it could
use advise in respect of navigating on the large water areas,
including New York Harbor and the Hudson River in the US. That offer of
help was not accepted. |
Vrienden van Henry Hudson:Ton van
Vugt en vrienden werken samen aan een fondsenwerving om te proberen
of meer platbodems van Nederland naar Amerika getransporteerd te kunnen
krijgen.
In een grote haven zoals New
York zouden:
- Tien (10) of minder boten zou haast
belachelijk zijn.
- Twintig (20) boten zou een
beetje redelijk zijn.
- Veertig (40) of meer boten
zou een grote impressie maken.
- Een honderd (100) zou een
Hollywood evenement zijn.
Omdat wij Nederland niet "voor
lul" willen zien staan en omdat wij de Amerikaners niet de indruk willen
laten hebben dat HH400 zo iets niet kan organiseren hebben wij onze hulp
aangeboden.
Wij hadden aansprak op veel
bronnen in jacht clubs, locale regering en het zaken leven maar er is nu
niet genoeg tijd meer over.

Friends on Henry Hudson:
Tony Van Vugt and friends are
working together on fundraising in the hope to attract many small donors
to raise sufficient funds to bring additional boats from the Netherlands to the United States.
In a large harbor like New
York:
- Ten (10) or fewer of our boats would be
an embarrassment.
- Twenty(20) boats would start to
look respectable.
- Forty (40) or more boats would
make a huge impression.
- One hundred (100) would be
a Hollywood spectacle.
Because we don't want the Dutch
to be seen as amateurs and don't want to give Americans the impression
that HH400 is not up to the task for this particular event we offered our assistance.
We have access to a huge
reservoir of resources from yachting clubs, government and
commercial establishments but time is running out. |
In het begin noemde wij ons "Vrienden van HH400." Dat is nu
niet meer zo. Wij hadden het idee dat het mogenlijk zou moeten zijn om samen
tewerken en informatie uittegeven aan mogenlijke deelnemers zonder
jaloers te zijn op wat anderen bijdragen. Het hele evenement is te

We initially described ourselves as "HH400 Friends." That is no longer
so. We had assumed that it should be possible for these three groups to cooperate, without being
concerned about "turf" battles, by readily exchanging information
to participants and others. The
event is too important to be allowed to fail. Check our Media Release to
be called "Post Mortem" to
